Sapa — Where Every Step Encounters a Story

Sapa is not only the misty town on top of the Hoang Lien Son pass. The real Sapa lies down in the valley — where the villages of the H'Mong, Red Dao, and Giay people nestle among rice terraces that curve like waves. With Sapa Trekking Homestay 2 Days 1 Night, you will leave behind the crowded tourist streets, walk along red dirt paths, sleep a night in a village stilt house, and wake up to the sound of roosters, flowing streams, and mountains shrouded in morning mist.

This is a light to moderate trekking tour suitable for all nature and culture lovers — no climbing skills required, no top physical condition needed, just a good pair of shoes and a soul eager to explore. You will pass through the four most characteristic villages of Muong Hoa Valley: Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, Ta Van, and Giang Ta Chai — each with its own ethnic flavor and a different perspective on highland life.

Why Choose This Tour?

We designed this tour so you experience Sapa slowly and authentically — not rushing between check-in points. Our guides at Vibe Vietnam Tours are local or have lived many years in Sapa; they know which bamboo bridge is most beautiful, which rice terrace is most golden in September, and which homestay still maintains family life instead of just being a place for guests. The night at the homestay is not just a place to sleep — it's an opportunity to sit by the fire, listen to the khen music, taste corn wine, and better understand the invisible companions on your journey.

Detailed Itinerary

1

Day 1

Sapa — Y Linh Ho — Lao Chai — Ta Van — Homestay Night

09:00: Meet guide in Sapa
Your local guide picks you up at your hotel in Sapa center. After briefing on the itinerary, trail difficulty, weather, and some cultural tips, the group starts the descent into the valley.
09:30: Start trekking down to Muong Hoa Valley
The trail leads you through lush green rice terraces, clear small streams, and scattered stilt houses on hillsides. The morning air is cool, clouds drifting over mountain peaks create a picturesque scene.
10:30: Y Linh Ho Village
Stop at Y Linh Ho — one of the most peaceful villages in the valley. The guide talks about H'Mong agricultural life, how they farm on rocky fields, care for corn and wet rice, and the traditional customs still preserved.
12:30: Lunch at a local home in the village
A simple but warm meal with white rice, forest vegetables, free-range chicken, and vegetable soup. You can sit on the floor, watch the local family cook, and chat via the interpreter/guide.
14:00: Trek to Lao Chai and Ta Van
Afternoon continues walking through Lao Chai — with the widest rice terraces in the valley — and arrive at Ta Van, the village of the Giay people. The route crosses bamboo bridges over streams, red dirt slopes, and lush corn fields.
16:30: Check-in homestay in Ta Van
Check in at a local homestay: dorm or private room depending on package. After resting, you can stroll around the village, take photos of sunset over rice terraces, or chat with the host.
19:00: Dinner and night in the village
Dinner with the homestay family featuring local specialties. After dinner, you can join evening activities: listen to the guide's stories about Sapa, enjoy a warm glass of corn wine by the fire, or simply sit and stargaze in the highlands. Overnight at homestay.

Day 2

Ta Van — Giang Ta Chai — Bamboo Forest — Sapa

07:30: Breakfast at homestay
Wake up to rooster crow and birdsong, enjoy a simple breakfast at the homestay with pancakes, eggs, bread, and local tea or coffee. The early morning air in Ta Van is cool and fresh to the point you'll not want to leave.
08:30: Trek to Giang Ta Chai
The group leaves Ta Van, trekking towards Giang Ta Chai. The second day's route passes through shady bamboo forests, small village paths, and villages of the Red Dao people. This segment is quieter, perfect for listening to nature sounds and feeling the slow pace of highland life.
10:30: Bamboo forest and rattan bridge
Stop at Giang Ta Chai bamboo forest area — one of the best photo spots on the trek. The guide will show you the best angles and tell how the Red Dao use bamboo in daily life: for houses, tools, and even musical instruments.
12:30: Lunch in the village
Have the last lunch in the village before returning to Sapa. This is also a chance to thank the homestay family and buy some handicrafts from villagers if you want to support the local community.
14:00: Short trek or car pickup to Sapa
Depending on fitness and weather, the group can walk a bit more or take a car/van from the end point to return to Sapa town. On the way back, you'll have a panoramic view of the valley from above.
15:30: Tour ends in Sapa
Drop-off at your hotel or central point in Sapa. You can continue your journey with a free afternoon in Sapa, take the Fansipan cable car, or stay an extra night in town.
