How the Day Usually Flows

A typical day runs like this:

• 08:00 – 08:45: Hotel pickup across central Phu Quoc (Duong Dong, Tran Hung Dao, Bai Truong) or arrival at the southern port meeting point.
• 09:00 – 09:30: Transfer to An Thoi harbour, boarding and a safety briefing from the crew.
• 09:30 – 11:30: Boat to the first reef. Gear fitting, then 45 to 60 minutes of guided snorkeling over shallow coral.
• 11:30 – 12:45: Move to a second coral site or island cove for another snorkeling session.
• 12:45 – 14:15: Anchor at an island (such as May Rut or a nearby cove) for a seafood lunch and rest on the beach.
• 14:15 – 15:30: Optional afternoon swim or time on the beach, then the boat back to An Thoi port.

• Do I Need to Know How to Swim? No. A life jacket keeps you afloat on the surface, so you do not need to swim. Relax, look down through your mask and breathe steadily.
• Gear Fitting: Your crew will help you fit the mask so that no hair breaks the seal.
• Breathing Through the Snorkel: The snorkels are dry-top with splash guards. You practise breathing through your mouth in waist-deep water before moving to deeper reef.
• In-Water Guide Assistance: Guides swim with floating safety rings. If you feel unsure, you can hold the ring while your guide tows you over the coral.
• Golden Rule: Never stand on the reef, both because of sharp coral and sea urchins and to protect the coral.

• Dry Season (November to April): Calm seas, sunny skies and little rain, with underwater visibility often 5 to 10 metres or more. This is the best season for snorkeling in the An Thoi archipelago.
• Monsoon Period (May to October): Southwest monsoon winds can create ocean swells on exposed western and southern coastlines. Rain usually falls in short afternoon showers, and sheltered bays and island coves often allow calm snorkeling on fair days.

Responsible Snorkeling & Coral Protection

Coral takes a very long time to grow and is easily damaged by contact. Please follow these rules on the reef:

• Never Stand, Kick, or Touch Coral: Even a light touch from a fin or shoe can kill coral polyps and break branches.
• No Marine Souvenirs: Do not remove shells, dead coral, starfish, or sea creatures from the sea.
• No Fish Feeding: Bread and processed food upset the fish’s natural feeding and encourage algae on the coral.
• Reef-Safe Sunscreen: Use a mineral sunscreen without oxybenzone and octinoxate, or wear a long-sleeve rash guard.
• Maintain Respectful Distance: Watch marine life without chasing or touching it.
