Tam Coc — Poetic Countryside: Gently glide on a bamboo boat along the poetic Ngo Dong River, flanked by endless rice fields. The 2-hour journey takes you through 3 caves (Tam Coc = Three Caves), each with its own beauty of stalactites hanging from the ceiling. During rice ripening season (May-June), Tam Coc turns into a brilliant golden sea — one of the most photographed landscapes in Vietnam. Tam Coc is suitable for romantic souls who love peaceful rural scenery.
Mua Cave — Million-View Viewpoint
After a lunch of Ninh Binh specialties (crispy fried rice, mountain goat, mountain snails), you will conquer Mua Cave — an unmissable highlight. 486 stone steps along the mountainside lead to the top, where all of Tam Coc unfolds like a giant ink wash painting. From above, you will see the Ngo Dong River winding like a green silk ribbon, tiny bamboo boats drifting leisurely, and lush green rice paddies stretching to the horizon. This is the most famous Instagram spot in Ninh Binh — where every traveler wants to take a photo.

Day 1
Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Trang An/Tam Coc – Mua Cave – Hanoi
Our vehicle and guide will pick you up at your hotel in the Old Quarter area or a central meeting point. Depart for Ninh Binh via the expressway, travel time approx. 2 – 2.5 hours. Along the way, you will pass through vast rice fields and peaceful Northern countryside — a gentle start to the exploration day.
Set foot in Ninh Binh, you will immediately feel the difference: fresher air, slower pace, and limestone mountains rising everywhere. The guide will give an overview of the history, geography, and culture of this ancient capital land.
This is the most anticipated moment. You choose one of two experiences:
At a local restaurant, enjoy lunch with famous Ninh Binh specialties: crispy fried rice with goat sauce, stir-fried mountain goat or goat lime salad, boiled mountain snails with ginger fish sauce, wild vegetable soup, and steamed rice. A meal rich in the flavors of Northern countryside.
After lunch, the vehicle takes you to Mua Cave — the best panoramic viewpoint in Ninh Binh, just a few minutes from Tam Coc.
486 stone steps along the mountainside — sounds like a lot but actually only takes 20-30 minutes to reach the top. The higher you go, the more spectacular the scenery. When you arrive at the top, all of Tam Coc unfolds before your eyes like a giant ink wash painting: the Ngo Dong River winding like a green silk ribbon, tiny bamboo boats drifting, rice fields stretching to the horizon. Two viewpoints: the dragon peak on the left offers the widest view, the right peak gives the classic Instagram-worthy shot.
Vehicle takes you back to Hanoi. On the way, you can nap or scroll through the best photos of the day.
