Mã Pì Lèng Pass and Tu Sản gorge in one day
Mã Pì Lèng Pass is the cliff road between Đồng Văn and Mèo Vạc, sometimes called the Happiness Road. Below it, the Nho Quế River runs through Tu Sản gorge, where the rock walls rise about 800 m above the water.
This day trip shows you both: first from the road, with stops at the Volunteer Youth Monument and the Mã Pì Lèng viewpoints, then from a boat on the river. Lunch is a local meal with grilled river fish, for packages that include lunch.

Day 1
Đồng Văn / Mèo Vạc – Mã Pì Lèng Pass – Nho Quế River – Tu Sản Gorge
- Morning pickup at your hotel in Đồng Văn Old Quarter or Mèo Vạc
- Drive up the cliff road over Mã Pì Lèng Pass
- Stop at the Volunteer Youth Monument, which honours the people who built the road
- Stop at the Mã Pì Lèng panorama viewpoint for photos of the river below
- Drive down to the Tà Làng boat pier on the Nho Quế River
- Take a boat through Tu Sản gorge, with cliffs of about 800 m on either side
- Local lunch with grilled river fish and mountain vegetables, if lunch is included in your package
- Afternoon transfer back to your hotel in Đồng Văn or Mèo Vạc
