Overview

Ha Giang 4-day 3-night private car tour — a safe, luxurious journey exploring the Dong Van Karst Plateau, Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, and Hmong culture. Price from $262/person.

Ha Giang By Private Car — Complete Emotions, Safe Every Mile

Ha Giang is not only for motorbike riders. With Vibe Vietnam Tours' private car 4-day 3-night tour, you can still conquer the legendary stone road — Quan Ba Heaven Pass, Dong Van Karst Plateau, Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River — but in a private space, with cool air conditioning and a local driver who knows every curve.

This is the ideal choice for families with young children, elderly people, couples who want privacy, or anyone who wants to enjoy Ha Giang without worrying about sun, wind, dust, or traffic safety. You just sit in the car, open the window, and let the majestic mountain scenery pass by — every curve is a photo for life.

Why Choose a Private Car Instead of a Motorbike?

We have taken hundreds of international guests to Ha Giang and understand that not everyone is suited for 4 days on the back of a motorbike. Private car tour solves all worries: absolute safety on mountain passes, air conditioning when the sun is scorching, stop for photos anywhere you like, and most importantly — the driver is a local from Ha Giang, knowing exactly which photo spot is best, which restaurant is most delicious, and which homestay is most cozy.

Tour Highlights

  • Quan Ba Heaven Pass & Twin Mountain — check-in icon, view the Tam Son Valley from above
  • Hmong King's Palace (Vuong House) — architecture blending Hmong – Chinese – French styles on the karst plateau, a story of a powerful historical era
  • Lung Cu Flag Tower — the sacred northernmost point of the country, where you stand on Dragon Peak and look toward the Chinese border
  • Ma Pi Leng Pass — one of Vietnam's Four Great Passes, a road winding on vertical cliffs, with the emerald Nho Que River below
  • Nho Que River Boat & Tu San Canyon — experience a boat ride through the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia, a completely different view of Ha Giang
  • Du Gia — hidden gem — a peaceful valley with terraced fields, clear streams, and cozy homestays, where you truly "live slowly" after 3 days of conquering mountain passes

Detailed Itinerary

1

Day 1

Ha Giang → Quan Ba → Yen Minh → Dong Van (150km)

08:00
Good morning Ha Giang
Private car and guide pick you up at your hotel or meeting point in Ha Giang city center. After a hot coffee and a quick briefing about the 4-day itinerary, weather, and safety notes, we hit the road.
09:30
Quan Ba Heaven Pass & Twin Mountain
The first stop is Quan Ba Heaven Pass — where you first feel the majesty of the karst plateau. From here, view down to Tam Son Valley with the Twin Mountain standing out among green terraced fields. One of the best check-in backgrounds in Ha Giang.
12:30
Lunch in Yen Minh
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Yen Minh. You'll enjoy highland specialties like pork belly, stir-fried wild vegetables, bamboo rice, and black chicken soup — flavors only Ha Giang has.
14:30
Tham Ma Slope & Dong Van Karst Plateau
Continue through Tham Ma Slope — the famous 9-curve slope where local drivers show off their skills. As you ascend, the scenery becomes more spectacular. You officially enter the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark — a unique natural heritage.
17:00
Dong Van in the afternoon
Arrive in Dong Van town, check in to hotel/guesthouse. Evening free to explore Dong Van Old Town with its hundred-year-old earthen houses, enjoy corn wine, sweet soup, and mingle with locals.
Lunch • Dinner Hotel/guesthouse in Dong Van town

Day 2

Dong Van → Hmong King's Palace → Lung Cu → Ma Pi Leng → Meo Vac (120km)

07:30
Highland breakfast
Wake up in the cool air of the karst plateau, have a hot breakfast and prepare for a day full of iconic destinations.
08:30
Hmong King's Palace (Vuong House)
The car takes you to Sa Phin, visit the mansion of Vuong Chinh Duc — the most powerful "Hmong King" of the highlands in the 20th century. The story of how he built his empire from opium, the architecture blending three cultures Hmong – Chinese – French, and the secrets in each room will keep you captivated. This is not just a sightseeing spot — it's a living chapter of the border region's history.
11:00
Lung Cu Flag Tower — Sacred Northern Point
You stand on Dragon Peak at an altitude of 1,470m, where the red flag with yellow star flies, and look across to Chinese territory. The feeling of standing at the northernmost point of the country, amid wind and clouds, is truly beyond words. Climb 839 steps to the top — but the view there is worth every step.
14:00
Ma Pi Leng Pass — Four Great Passes
This is the moment the entire 4-day journey has been building up to. The car slowly climbs the legendary pass — one of Vietnam's Four Great Passes. On the right is a sheer cliff, on the left a deep abyss with the emerald Nho Que River winding below. You'll have at least 2-3 stops to take photos and enjoy the scenery many call "the most beautiful in Vietnam".
17:00
Meo Vac in the evening
Arrive in Meo Vac, check in and rest. In the evening, leisurely explore the small town nestled in the mountains, enjoy black chicken hotpot or the famous Meo Vac dried beef.
Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner Hotel/guesthouse in Meo Vac
3

Day 3

Meo Vac → Nho Que River Boat → Mau Due → Du Gia (100km)

07:30
Breakfast by the Nho Que River
The third day starts more gently. After breakfast, you have the option to experience what many guests rate as the most surprising highlight of the tour.
08:30
Nho Que River Boat & Tu San Canyon (optional)
Get on a motor boat, glide through Tu San Canyon — the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia with cliffs over 700m high on both sides. Look up to the Ma Pi Leng Pass you crossed yesterday, now you are at the bottom of the abyss, a completely different perspective. The river water is emerald, calm and serene amid the majestic mountains. This is one of the experiences we highly recommend adding to your itinerary — it changes the way you see Ha Giang forever.
11:30
Mau Due Route
The car continues through Mau Due — one of the least touristy routes but stunningly beautiful. Small villages nestle on the mountain slopes, children wave, terraced fields are golden in the harvest season or green in the rainy season — depending on when you travel.
15:00
Du Gia — Hidden Gem of Ha Giang
Arriving in Du Gia, you'll understand why we always dedicate a day to this valley. Not as lively as Dong Van, not as majestic as Ma Pi Leng — Du Gia is peaceful, rustic with terraced fields, clear streams, and simple wooden stilt houses. Check in to homestay and freely explore the village, swim in the stream, or simply sit on the porch and watch the sunset over the valley.
Breakfast • Lunch • Dinner Homestay/guesthouse in Du Gia
4

Day 4

Du Gia → Village → Ha Giang City (70km)

07:30
Last breakfast in the valley
Wake up to the sound of wild chickens and morning mist covering the Du Gia valley. The last breakfast of the journey — savor it slowly because you'll have to say goodbye soon.
08:30
Explore the village in the morning
The last morning is for wandering through the villages around Du Gia. Meet the Dao, Tay, and Hmong ethnic people, listen to their stories, and watch daily life in the highlands. This is not a tourist spot — it's real life, and you are a welcomed guest.
11:00
Return to Ha Giang
The car takes you back to Ha Giang city via quiet, small roads. Stop for lunch along the way.
14:00
Goodbye Ha Giang
Arrive in Ha Giang City. End of the 4-day journey. You can stay an extra night in Ha Giang if you wish (we have a hotel option), or take a bus back to Hanoi in the afternoon. See you on another Vibe Vietnam Tours adventure!
