The tour is usually organized at Datanla Waterfall area, which has terrain of waterfalls, cliffs, streams, forest and canyon suitable for activities such as rappelling, dry cliff climbing, zipline, natural water sliding, jumping into lakes and trekking in the forest.

This is not a typical sightseeing tour. Guests will wear protective gear, helmet, life jacket, harness, and receive instruction on rope techniques, how to rappel/abseil, how to maintain balance, how to jump into water, and how to handle water currents. Some operators describe canyoning in Da Lat as including activities such as abseiling, sliding the water, jumping down waterfalls, hiking and swimming.

This product should be sold as high-adrenaline but professionally guided. Sales should not sell to all guests, especially not to guests with poor health, pregnant women, people with cardiovascular disease, blood pressure, spine issues, severe fear of water, or very young children. Before confirming booking, it is mandatory to check supplier, weather conditions, participation conditions, insurance, equipment, and guide/guest ratio.

Main experience in the tour

Safety briefing & training

Before entering the canyon, guests are instructed on how to use helmet, life jacket, harness, rope and basic techniques. The guide will have guests practice rappel/abseil on a low dry cliff before the real challenge. Some tour descriptions mention that guests will learn knot tying, harness wearing and proper rappelling technique before descending the waterfall.

Dry cliff abseiling

Guests start with a dry cliff to get used to the feeling of rappelling, speed control, foot position, and following the guide's commands. This is an important part to build confidence before entering the waterfall.

Zipline / Tyrolean traverse

Guests may experience a zipline crossing over streams/waterfalls depending on the route. Some canyoning routes in Da Lat include a Tyrolean Traverse or zipline over water areas.

Natural water slide

Guests slide along the water flow on natural rock surfaces eroded by water. This is a fun part, easy for photos/videos, but still requires following the guide's instructions on posture to avoid collisions.

Waterfall abseiling

This is the main highlight of canyoning. Guests rappel down the waterfall, controlling the rope while being hit directly by the water. Some descriptions of the Da Lat experience mention cliffs/waterfalls around 18m, 25m and a 'washing machine' section at the end of the route, but the actual height and challenge depend on the supplier and the route operated on the day.

Detailed Itinerary

1

Day 1

08:00: Pick up from hotel in Da Lat
Car and adventure team pick up guests at central Da Lat hotel. Guests should wear quick-dry sportswear, good grip shoes, and not bring valuables.
08:30: Arrive at base camp / Datanla area
Guests arrive at the assembly area, meet instructor/guide, receive an overview of canyoning, weather, water level, route, and important notes.
09:00: Receive equipment & safety briefing
Guests are issued helmet, life jacket, harness, gloves and necessary equipment. Guide explains how to wear gear, how to listen to commands, how to control the rope, how to sit in the harness, how to jump into water, and how to handle sliding/floating.
09:30: Training session on low cliff
Guests practice rappel/abseil on a dry cliff to get familiar. The guide only starts the real route when guests understand basic techniques and are confident enough.
10:00: Dry cliff abseiling
First challenge begins. Guests rappel down a dry cliff, controlling speed and getting used to the height.

Guests experience zipline or crossing depending on the day's route. This activity depends on the rope system, water conditions, and the guide's decision.
11:30: Water sliding / lazy river
Guests slide down natural waterfalls, swim or float along gentle currents in a safe area. This is a relaxing part but still requires wearing a life jacket and listening to the guide.
