Nguom Ngao Cave — A Million-Year-Old Limestone Masterpiece
Just a few kilometers from Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave is one of the most beautiful limestone caves in the northern region. With a length of over 2km, the cave boasts a stunning system of stalactites, stalagmites, and stone pillars formed over millions of years. The stalactites have unique shapes — some like pine trees, some like petrified waterfalls, and some glistening like crystal under the lights. The cave is cool all year round, making you feel like you've stepped into another world.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Hanoi – Cao Bang – Nguom Ngao Cave – Khuoi Chai Stone Village
Vehicle and guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi's city center. Depart for Cao Bang — one of the most beautiful mountain routes in the north. This is a long road trip (about 6-7 hours), but you'll pass through limestone mountains, green valleys, and highland villages. The guide will introduce the history, culture of the Northeast region, and the attractions along the way.
Stop at a rest area to relax, have tea/coffee, and enjoy the scenery.
Lunch at a local restaurant on the way or in Cao Bang. The menu includes local dishes: rice, vegetables, meat/chicken, highland specialties, or vegetarian options if you inform us in advance.
Continue to Trung Khanh — the area near Ban Gioc Waterfall. Along the way, enjoy views of limestone mountains, valleys, and Cao Bang villages.
Start exploring Nguom Ngao Cave — a famous limestone cave with unique stalactites, stalagmites, and natural stone pillars. The guide will share about the cave's structure, local names, and natural beauty.
If time permits, visit Khuoi Chai Stone Village — a Tay ethnic village with ancient stone stilt houses nestled by a stream. This is a great place for photos and learning about the local Tay people's life.
Check in to a hotel/homestay in Trung Khanh or Ban Gioc area. Dinner with local specialties. Overnight.
Day 2
Ban Gioc Waterfall – Truc Lam Pagoda – Hanoi
Breakfast at your accommodation. The morning air in the border area is fresh and peaceful.
We'll take you to Ban Gioc Waterfall. You'll have time to walk, take photos, and enjoy the panoramic view of the waterfall in the valley. During the high-water season, the waterfall has multiple tiers, white foam, and a very impressive scene — worthy of the title of Vietnam's most majestic waterfall.
If weather and operating regulations allow, you can experience a bamboo raft to get closer to the base of the waterfall. This is a worthwhile experience for photography lovers and those who want to feel the waterfall up close.
Visit Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda — a pagoda on a hill overlooking the waterfall and valley. From here, you can enjoy views of the mountains, valley, and the Ban Gioc area from above.
Lunch at a local restaurant in Trung Khanh/Cao Bang area.
We'll take you back to Hanoi. There are short rest stops along the way.
Drop you off at your hotel or a convenient central point. End of the trip — with memories of the majestic waterfall, magical cave, and the Northeast mountains.
